Lansdowne Bhoys Crash Out Of CupNew York Greek-American/Atlas opened their Manning Cup defense with a 2-0 decision over ten-man Lansdowne Bhoys last Sunday that put them in the quarterfinals. The Greeks needed just a minute and 40 seconds to find the net at Tibbets Brook Park through Michael Todd whose cross-cum-shot crossed the line. Todd would later miss a penalty [65th] awarded for a deliberate hand ball that earned Lansdowne a red card. Despite the set-back, the Irishmen had their moments with Declan Reilly and Damian Mescall rattling the woodwork and Kurt Smith, Conor Hunter and Alan O’Hara all going close. But as Lansdowne poured forward in search of an equalizer, Atlas countered and Michael Konicoff delivered the coup de grace [93rd] in stoppage time to put the Greeks in the quarterfinals. “A good win; we’ll take it one game at a time,” said Atlas GM George Mellis, whose side had crashed out of the US National Amateur Cup four days earlier. They lost 3-2 on penalties to Oyster Bay Fenerbache after a 2-2 tie. For Lansdowne, it was another woeful afternoon upfront. “Same story,” griped Paul Doherty. “You don’t take your chances, you get punished."COMPLETE RECAP OF ALL CSL GAMES
